Fossil Fun Taught by Nick Bader, Whitman Geology Professor Saturday, September 27, 3 - 4:30 PM Ages 8-12 The John Day Fossil Beds in Oregon are practically in our own backyard, and they contain plant and animal fossils that are between 6 and 54 million years old! Come learn what fossils can tell us about the history of the Earth.
Apple Dapple Did you know about 2,500 varieties of apples are grown in the U.U and 7,500 are grown worldwide? Come taste test a few and learn which varieties are best for eating, cooking, juicing, or baking and enjoy a yummy dessert! Sunday, October 19, 2:00-3:00pm all ages
Go Make a Kite! With Joy Bader Saturday, October 18, 10 AM - 12 noon Ages 5-12 Come learn kite-flying basics and make or decorate a kite to keep!

Physics Discovery - Air Pressure With Henry Savelesky Saturday, November 22, 10 - 11 AM Ages 4-12 Let's discover air pressure and its effects! We'll perform hands-on experiments to learn why things collapse when air is removed.
Card Making Extravaganza With Tara Crain Saturday, December 6, 1 - 3 PM Ages 4-12 Learn the tricks of the card-making trade and make beautiful cards for the holiday season. Participants will make their own cards to take home and share!
Exploring Maps Saturday, December 13, 10 - 11:30 AM Ages 8-12 Come and explore the art and science of cartography (map making). We'll learn how and why maps are made, how to read a map, and try our hands at some simple orienteering. We'll even draw our very own map!

Coming Soon! Advanced Science and Engineering Workshops Thanks to a grant from the George T. Welch Trust we are able to offer advanced science and engineering workshops for children ages 9-12. The workshops will focus on projects from one of two books: "Stomp Rockets, Catapults, and Kaleidoscopes: 30+ Amazing Science Projects You Can Build for Less Than $1" by Curt Gabrielson and "Amazing Rubber Band Cars: Easy-to-Build Wind-Up Racers, models, and Toys" by Mike Rigsby. Workshop participants will get to take home a FREE copy of the book featured in that workshop session!
Children's Museum of Walla Walla offer several upcoming workshops. A parent or guardian must attend the workshop with the child. The museum, at 77 Wainwright Drive, is inside the Poplar Street entrance to Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center grounds.
